UAL Master's thesis writing guidelines

1. Regardless of the format chosen, the Master’s thesis must comply with the standardisation criteria specified below:
• Theses must be written in Spanish or English (in the latter case, there must be an abstract of the document in Spanish)
• They must be submitted in printed form on A4 paper, with margins of 25 mm on all sides. The pages must include a header or footer containing the title of the Master’s thesis and the
page number.
• The general font of the document shall be Times New Roman, size 12 points, with the text justified on both margins and a line spacing of between 1 and 1.5.
Footnotes must be in 10-point Times New Roman with single spacing.

The paper must be paginated and ithe  format of Master’s Thesis  - Format of the paper:

a) Margins:

  • Top: 2.5 cm.
  • Bottom: 2.5 cm.
  • Left: 3 cm.
  • Right: 2.5 cm.
  • Header: 1.25 cm.
  • Footer: 1.5 cm.

b) Paragraphs, line spacing, font and font size:

  • Text alignment: justified.
  • As a general rule, no blank lines should be left between paragraphs.
  • Paragraph spacing: 6 points before, 0 points after.
  • Line spacing: 1.5.
  • Font and font size: Times New Roman, 12-point, or equivalent font.

c) Pagination and footnotes:

  • Position and size of page numbering: bottom centre, Times New Roman, 10-point, or equivalent font.
  • Position and size of footnotes: at the bottom of the page, Times New Roman, 10-point, or equivalent font.

d) Headings:

  • Chapter title and number: uppercase, 14-point, bold.
  • Section headings: uppercase, 12-point, bold.

• When binding the Master’s Thesis, the front and back covers specified in Annex 2 must be used.
2. The structure of the Master’s Thesis in the Professional or Technical track must be tailored to the professional activities inherent to the management of the agri-food sector
and should, as a guide, comprise sections covering all or part of the following aspects
